Social Security: When To Start Taking Benefits

I have been dong some research on Social Security and was planning on writing an article.  But I found a good primer to which I provide the link (plus other links).  We are an RIA (Registered Investment Adviser) and along with our investment and wealth management services we provide clients with overall planning services.  It is important to have an overhead view of ...

your finances in order to make the best possible decisions, decisions that can dramatically affect the rest of your life.  Some decisions are permanent, so it is best to be careful.  One of these decisions is when to take your Social Security benefits.   As noted in the article "56% of men and 65% of women filed for sometime before the full retirement age of 56 in 2011 (the most recently available data)."  That can be a big mistake.   You can read the article, published by Morningstar, which offers a good basic understanding, and if you would like more personal assistance in looking at your "big picture," please call us at 412-367-9076.
